What is Chevrolet impala make a good first car?

I understand if you take good care of them they last a good 250,xxx miles. But I'm preferably looking at a 2006-2010 with about 75k to 150 k miles. So would one be an appropriate first car for a high school junior?

Potentially, yes. Maybe not as good of quality compared to it's Japanese counterparts. But as you say, if properly and fully serviced and maintained it could be a reliable automobile for you. And yes, safe, good size, good visibility, which are all very important to first time automobile owners.

My cousins dad drove one 240K with only a water pump and normal batt/tire/brake/belt/lube service before he traded it for a new one. Leaks and under body rust would be the determining factor on it's worthiness and value.
