Computer still slow after reformatting, Windows 8/8.1?

Recently I had swapped computers with my little brother, and he had chocked it full of all kinds of viruses. I tried running several Malware removal programs (MalwareBytes, Adwcleaner, HMPro, etc...) but I had to end up reformatting the entire computer due to all of that.

Once it was finished reformatting, I signed in to my Microsoft Account, and customized. Got Chrome and started getting online, but I noticed it was super sluggish, and lagged when I would scroll on any website. A friend told me to update, and I spent a couple hours updating; restarted the computer, and got back on. It was a bit faster, but still incredibly slow. I don't know what else to do, unless I should reformat it again.

Any advice (please nothing I have to download, thanks.) ?

Thanks!

Your problem may lie in the drivers you are using! When your format a system, you will also need to reinstall the correct drivers for your graphics card, hard drives and monitor and depending on how old your hardware is and how new your system is can give you good and bad results!

I suggest you use the disc that comes with the computer to install its hardware device drivers and if you do not have the disc, I suggest download it from the manufacture web site.

When your reformat, you are removing all data related to to operating system and hardware configuration, and if you are talking about Microsoft Windows then it will install its own compatible drivers for all your hardware which in most cases lags you if you are not performing any normal Windows operation.
