  • Moving Stress + Bipolar?

I'm helping my mother move this Friday, and the stress is already piling on. The key factor that will make this harder on her, is she has Bipolar 2, and currently off medication, due to not being able to afford it.

This happened last year as well, and she's had to move from place-to-place, downgrading each time. - It had gotten so bad that me and my oldest brother had to have paramedics come out to her home, and help her calm down.

We don't want it to come to another drastic solution. But as long as she's off of her medication, we are not sure how to keep are relaxed 'til everything is settled in her new home.

We've gathered some pals together to help with the move. So hopefully she won't strain herself as much as she did in the last move.

Any tips? Don't want my mom to have a breakdown.

  • Child Jumps, Claps, and Screams constantly?

I have a son who is 4 years old. For about 2 years now he's been jumping, clapping, and screaming all together whenever he seems to be in a loud environment. He has been potty trained easily, and can dress himself just fine. His teacher says that he is very good in his classes, and has been learning everyday. I've seen over 5 therapists, and they've seemed to all diagnose him with Sensory Processing Disorder. But his special needs teacher seems to believe it might be more than that: Tourette's Syndrome. Seeing as this constant activity as a sign of various tics. I just wanted to see if anyone else has raised a child with the same type of symptoms.

    Thank You!

  • Do I have "transvestite fetishism"?

For a few years I've always wanted to dress in women's clothing. And lately I found out that being in a skirt is very liberating, and somewhat arousing. I tend to get an erection whenever I put on a skirts, and women's clothing. But I don't frequently do it to get off. I identify as a cis-male, who is straight; but there's something about the opposite sexes clothing that is very comfy about it. I just recently started pleasuring myself while in the opposite gender's clothes. Would this qualify as "transvestite fetishism"?

    Thanks.

PS. I don't do this all the time; I just started to be honest. But I don't see myself making it a habit during sessions.

  • Do you get refunded for a cancelled Amazon order?

I recently cancelled 3 orders, and I was charged for them before they arrived. I've been waiting about 5 days for a refund which should be around $52.00. I contacted Amazon, and the sellers but I no response. Do you get a refund once you cancel your orders.

PS. None of them arrived, since I cancelled them. But I was still charged.

  • If you're Buddhist, do you have to believe in reincarnation and nirvana?

    Hi!

Right now I'm thinking seriously about converting to Buddhism. But there are somethings in Buddhism that I can't accept as logical truth. For instance; reincarnation and nirvana.

I don't mean to sound like a pessimist, but I believe once your life as ended on Earth, then that's all. There's no afterlife or any reincarnation cycles you go through.

I believe deeply that Buddha was but a man who was very wise, and peaceful. And I would love to be as peaceful. But I don't believe he ascended his physical body and became a god-like figure.

I believe there is such thing as karma; and if you do bad things, that will happen to you 10-times over. I have witnessed this many times.

But basically what I'm trying to say is that, can I follow Buddhism without having to accept rebirth?

    Thanks!

  • What does Subjective Morality mean?

    Hi!

I have OCD and one of my worst fears is that I'm going to reject all moral claims and just become a maniac or psychopath, which is linked to another one of my fears of losing control. I'm irreligious and don't believe in any Gods or deities, so therefore The 10 Commandments, or another dogma doesn't have any effect on me. But I still believe causing harm is wrong, by any means. Whether be in self-defense, war, or some maniacal nutcase, I just believe all form of harm is bad and doesn't benefit us at all.

I'd never hurt a fly, but ever since leaving religion I've been obsessing over morality and where it came from, or what makes wrong, wrong; or right, right. I don't know much about objective vs. subjective, I just know that objective is an absolute morality, like a dogma. - Could someone help me understand it more, I'm just scared that I'm going to magically turn into a psychopath if I don't understand fully.

    Thanks!

  • Plus Size Crossdressing?

    Hi!

I am a male who is interested in crossdressing. I am 6'1'', 285 lbs, a little extra weight w/ a wide stature: Simply put I don't have a very feminine look to myself. I happily identify as male, but I am Pansexual; I'm just interested into getting in the world of crossdressing. I'm slowly but surely loosing more weight, so hopefully I will have a skinnier stance and be able to get a nice feminine curve.

But for now; how would someone like me who is plus size and masculine-looking achieve a more feminine look? I have looked up several tutorials on makeup, but the trouble is finding the right clothes, and a friend and crossdresser told me if I want to have the hourglass figure, and more a feminine look, then I would have to purchase a cinch or corset. I've never used one before, and I'm afraid that if I buy the wrong one, then it won't work and I'll still have the big belly hanging, with the broad shoulders.

So basically: Is there anyway I can look more feminine, and crossdress and hide my masculine stature?

    Thanks!

  • Risperdal making me dissociative?

    Hi!

I was prescribed Risperdal about a month ago, and it has been helping greatly with my OCD Intrusive Thoughts. But as you of late, I have been feeling very disassociated, and feeling as if my emotions have been numbed.

I still have emotions, and still will have an occasional jarring/scary intrusive thought; but I can fight them off a lot easier than without the Risperdal. I am on 60mg of Prozac, and 0.5mg of Xanax. I know it can't be either of those, so my only guess is that it's the Risperdal . - I take these medications for OCD and Anxiety, but I have no psychotic symptoms. Could it be effecting me the opposite way it would effect a Schizophrenic person? Like making me disconnect from reality, instead of grounding me?

    Thanks!

  • Can Harm OCD Intrusive Thoughts take over and turn you psychotic?

For the longest time I ve been afraid of these thoughts. The thoughts being of causing purposeful harm to people I care for and love.

My panic attacks have just recently reached a bad spike , and the intrusive thoughts keep flooding in with different variations of the same thing. I just wish I could not have these thoughts : I feel extremely sick typing this due to how repulsive and disturbingly psychopathic they are.

I know that I would never act upon the thoughts, but they make me feel like I m just going to randomly lose control and laugh maniacally. One of my compulsive behaviors is coughing, as if I was covering up a crazy laughing fit.

I also check and make sure I m not smiling so it doesn t look like I m enjoying the thoughts.

But bringing it to brass tacks; I loathe these thoughts with every fiber. But I m so afraid that somehow I m going to give into the thoughts, and have my worst nightmares become reality.

I don t want that to happen, and I ve never even intentionally thought about any of this. It just pops in my head and my first reaction was "NO".

So basically, I m just wanting reassurance that I m not going to lose my mind spontaneously and do something I truly don t want to do.

Sorry if this was really long.

    Thanks!

  • OCD: Scared of Intrusive Thoughts and Intrusive Impulses?

    Hi!

Lately my OCD and Anxiety have been through the roof. I have been fixated on one particular intrusive thought of causing harm: And this thought I can say is one of the worse ones out of the bunch.

I've become so afraid of these thoughts that I feel like they are going to turn into insane impulses.

My little brother who has potentially has Bipolar, has impulse control problems, but I fear that I have those same symptoms as well.

I'm so scared that I'm going to turn insane and do something I don't want to do. I'm currently taking Ativan 1mg that I was prescribed at, at the ER. And formerly on Prozac and Hydroxozine.

Is there anyway I can stop these thoughts until I can find therapy?

    Thank you!

  • Using Graphics Tablet as a stand-alone monitor, while PC Monitor is also on its own?

I recently got a Yiynova MVP10U and I'm in love with it so far. But the only thing that keeps confusing me, and makes it difficult to draw is the monitor settings on Windows 8.1. I've tried several different combinations so that I can just use the Yiynova to draw, and have my PC monitor just show my desktop. This gets very confusing especially when I start streaming. I'll capture the 2nd monitor (Yiynova), but my mouse would wander onto my main display (PC Monitor). Is there anyway for the Yiynova to be able to display my art programs, and the PC monitor be for displaying my desktop background?

I want to be able to have Photoshop and Paint Tool Sai on my Yiynova screen, and the stream's chat on my PC Monitor.

    Thanks!

  • Explanations for "Miracles" and Healing in Religion?

I've heard several stories about how people have been cured from cancer/aids/diabetes/etc... just by praying to the god to be healed. I have even done it myself, and yet to hear my results coming back from the doctor to see if I was actually healed from my Type 2 Diabetes; now I don't believe anything will happen, due to not believing in god. But I exercise with my friend who has another friend who is heavily Pentecostal Evangelist. I tell my friend about my diabetes and OCD and he tells him about it. He prayed for me with my hands up and all that to cure my diabetes. The other time I prayed to be healed from my OCD nothing happened and I still have it, if not worse than before. So that should be enough proof that all that faith healing stuff is a load of bologna. But I'm still curious as to see if my results will come back and I won't have diabetes anymore: although I am exercising 3 times a week, and I'm in the earlier steps of diabetes. My mom has the same form of diabetes, and so does my grandma, and they have tingling feet and the other side effects of diabetes. - I'm still skeptical on miracles. But it makes me wonder if I was cured or w/e. I just find myself getting more skeptical about miracles, especially when they announce that someone was healed in the church, and they never speak about it again.

If anyone can give me a scientific explanation, or just a rational explanation for 'miracles'.

    Thanks!

  • Computer still slow after reformatting, Windows 8/8.1?

Recently I had swapped computers with my little brother, and he had chocked it full of all kinds of viruses. I tried running several Malware removal programs (MalwareBytes, Adwcleaner, HMPro, etc...) but I had to end up reformatting the entire computer due to all of that.

Once it was finished reformatting, I signed in to my Microsoft Account, and customized. Got Chrome and started getting online, but I noticed it was super sluggish, and lagged when I would scroll on any website. A friend told me to update, and I spent a couple hours updating; restarted the computer, and got back on. It was a bit faster, but still incredibly slow. I don't know what else to do, unless I should reformat it again.

Any advice (please nothing I have to download, thanks.) ?

    Thanks!

  • Explaining several well documented cases of Demonic Possession?

I've been studying a lot of old religions, and it seems most of the modern ones speak of some kind possession or influence from a supernatural spirit or demon. I've read a few cases which did startle me a bit, it was the case of Latoya Ammon. I read the story about how here children began having oddly deep voices, bulging eyes, and in one instance she says her one child was flung across the room.

The only reason why I continue to discredit this happening, is because the lack of photographic, or video evidence. Why is it when something like this happens, there so happens to be no one who owns a camera, camcorder, or even a phone with a camera on it. - We can only go by word of mouth from the witness of the paranormal occurrence, no photos, no videos, not even physical remains of what happened. The Ammon House was supposedly the "portal to hell", and something about a member of the Ghost Hunters purchasing the house, probably for investigation. I'm assuming the family moved out of the house after such a crazy event. I hope the family is doing well and all; but what are you guys' stances on this whole documentation of another demonic possession, again without any physical evidence that there was one in the first place.

(Please only Atheists; I understand that Jesus protects his follows and all that. I just want a logical explanation for this story. Thanks.)

  • Where did Demons, Angels, and "Unclean" Spirits originate from?

I've been studying a bunch of extinct religions lately. And I started getting sort-of interested in Ancient Mesopotamian Religions (i.e. Babylonian, Sumerian, etc...) and I was wondering where Demons and Angels originated from. I've read some Greek mythology about the Nature God Pan, and how the Biblical Satan was inspired by that Greek God. I've read about Pazuzu too, and how he was the "king of demons" in the Babylonian/Assyrian Religion. I was wondering if that's where demons had originated from: since it is Babylonian and the Bible does speak of Babylonia.

I know that the Bible and the Christian religion in general takes influence from several ancient religions. But I was wondering where the whole "unclean spirits" came from. Theologically speaking. -- I don't know much about where Angels originated from, just that there are 7 Archangels in the Catholic Religion (Uriel, Gabriel, Raphael, etc...). Did they come from any ancient religions? Or did they originate in Judeo-Christianity? - Thanks.

(I'm an Atheist, just curious about old time religions, and theological lore.)

  • HP Deskjet F4140 Cartridge Problem when scanning?

I just got a new scanner from my brother, and when I installed all the recommended drives/software, I tried to scan a test picture. When I hit the scan button on the all-in-one; it gave me a "cartridge problem" message after I hit the button. It also shows a glowing "E" on the hardware itself. I'm not trying to print or copy anything, I just want to scan something.

Do I have to buy new carts for the printer/copier part. Or can I scan without ink?

  • How to explain the prophecy of Jerusalem being built in a day?

I attended a Pentecostal church my friend has been going to for some time now. The only times I go with him is when we get to hang out afterwards. But every time the service ends I get confronted because a couple people there know that I am an open Atheist.

They keep telling me to come over, and accept Jesus; and "everything physical, and spiritual will become a lot easier." - I feel kind of awkward when they ask me if I'm ready to become a Christian, and attend their church services. I just say I don't believe, and shrug it off.

But there was one thing that did strike my interest in the service that night. The pastor was going on about end times (it seems to be the only thing these guys know anymore.): and how biblical prophecies were being fulfilled, slowly but surely.

I was mentally making "ugh" faces during the sermon; again just shrugging it off and continued listening. - The pastor then continued to explain how Israel/Jerusalem rose in a day sometime after WWII, he said just like the bible predicted. He then went on to say some of them don't come true, and some do. Which again made me make a mental "ugh" face. The whole talk of End Times never bothers me because I don't believe in it. But I'm assuming that this was just another "biblical prophecy": just like Nostradamus predicted several things, and some of them came true, and some didn't.

I dunno; what are your guys' thoughts on this. (I would like to get fellow Atheists opinions on this.)

  • How to explain this "miracle"?

Okay so my friend told me about when him and his church group went out to witness to people, and when they went to McDonald's to witness to the customers there, on guy prayed to get saved, and that his one leg that was shorter than the other would grow to the same size as his other leg which was normal length.

My friend said that night his leg grew to the same size as the normal length one.

It was one of those "hands-on-head" prayer circles around the guy, and that he was quote-on-quote healed from his leg that was shorter than the other.

Is there some kind of natural explanation for this? Thanks.

  • Wanting to convert from Atheism to Buddhism?

I grew up a Baptist Christian, then became a Agnostic/Atheist. I've studied Buddhism and their beliefs, and have been thinking a lot about converting to a non-theistic version of Buddhism. Just following the teachings of Buddha and the Eight-Fold Path. Buddhism has always been on my mind, and it seems like it would be interesting: I am a firm believer in Karma, which is my Hindu; and Atheism just doesn't seem to be the thing for me.

Could someone give me a run-down about Buddhism. - Like things that are done in the religion. I have practiced meditation before and it has helped me: that is why I was thinking of converting.

So could someone give me a explanation for things in the religion?

    Thanks.

  • Why do people try to disprove our existence?

I've seen several theories of people trying to say we don't exist, or that we're just simulated. It kinda baffles me to see people try their hardest to be the right person and say "I told you so". I understand the theories and all, but I just don't understand why people want to be right about it, and try to disprove our existence.
