Risperdal making me dissociative?

Hi!

I was prescribed Risperdal about a month ago, and it has been helping greatly with my OCD Intrusive Thoughts. But as you of late, I have been feeling very disassociated, and feeling as if my emotions have been numbed.

I still have emotions, and still will have an occasional jarring/scary intrusive thought; but I can fight them off a lot easier than without the Risperdal. I am on 60mg of Prozac, and 0.5mg of Xanax. I know it can't be either of those, so my only guess is that it's the Risperdal . - I take these medications for OCD and Anxiety, but I have no psychotic symptoms. Could it be effecting me the opposite way it would effect a Schizophrenic person? Like making me disconnect from reality, instead of grounding me?

Thanks!

It's very possible the Prozac needs to be adjusted with the addition of the Risperdol.

If they are all working (which is good to know, because mine isn't), I've taken Prozac before (decades ago) and the effect I remember is dissociation.

I would call your prescriber and ask about the doses, tell them what's going on, and ask if this is something you should be experiencing (perhaps for a short time) or if it is a concern that needs to be addressed.

Source(s): OCD, PTSD, ADHD, GAD, etc.
