How long should I keep an african Cichlid in timeout?

Update:

I have a blue colbalt zebra mbuna and the fish is causing problems because he is the dominant fish and he always prevents fish from using the left side of the tank. It is a 125 Gallon tank with many rocks. I removed the fish and put him into a 20 gallon quarintine tank. I've heard that if you keep the fish in a separate tank for a while, the fish will have to start from the bottom of the pecking order and work his way up. It's been a week now, should I re-introduce the fish?

It is a 125 Gallon tank with many rocks. I removed the fish and put him into a 20 gallon quarintine tank just for precautions.
