Can I turn a dining room into a bedroom?

okay, it might sound stupid but that is really what it is...there is a room in my house and it is a dining room cuz it has a sink put in there...I have my own bedroom but I like that dining room better as it contains a big window and is more bright....would the basin look too bad in a bedroom or it would be okay?

Absolutely! A sink would be fine in a bedroom. When I lived in England, my bedroom had a sink in it and it was really handy. You could even turn it into a dressing table with a sink. Attach a piece of wood with a hole cut out of it, over the sink (so the sink comes through the hole.) cover the bottom with a material *skirt* that you can open and store stuff underneath. The skirt would also cover the plumbing).

If money is no problem, you could build a complete dressing table around the sink, i.e. have sides and drawers underneath. Good luck :)

My friend changed her dining room into a bedroom by closing the wall between the living room and dining room, and putting a door for privacy in the doorway between the dining room and kitchen. Her husband had a stroke, and could not climb stairs to the upstairs bedroom level, so it was perfect. There was no full bath on the first floor, but she managed to bathe him in the bedroom. A sink in the bedroom would be a good vanity place.

I think a sink would be great in a bedroom...especially if you get up and want a drink of water...and you wouldn't have bathroom water. You can decorate around it and probably cover it up or just go for it and make use of it. It's called having a bar in your bedroom.

Perfectly OK. A lot of bedrooms have a sink in them. As long as it's a "pretty" looking sink suitable for a bedroom and not a grubby kitchen type sink!

When I was about 13, my bedroom was a converted dining room, complete with chandelier over my bed and built in china cabinets where I kept my clothes.

Many people do that sort of thing. If you feel private enough for that to be your bedroom, go for it. A basin can be a good bonus in your bedroom. You will not know until you try.

Unless you have an open concept and don't want to put walls up......

A room off set could most certainly be made into another bedroom........good luck on this adventure.

Yes, why not. You just have to do some little changes in it. If you visit any interior designer or architect then he will guide you more better than anyone else. Normally, a dinning room already looks empty so it will not be so difficult for you.

I think it will disturb your privacy a bit but at the same time i would encourage you to go for As long as it's a "pretty" looking sink suitable for a bedroom.
