The sun and too much soaking in the tub or pool = skin's worst enemies. AVOID THOSE as much as 99% a day. Exfoliate with body wash and wash cloth, each time you take a shower. Keeps my skin silkier, softer, smoother.

Best sunscreen: wear dark, thicker clothing, floppy hat,, or sun clothing embedded with UPF 50, or umbrella (which protects you up to 80% of the UV rays that cause sun damage penetrate clouds, according to the EPA).. They were invented to protect us from the elements.

Your tan will fade after several months even years, depends how old you are now or how long you've been tanned. I was a vendor outside, sitting only in the shade, until a car parked in front of me, the glass reflecting right @ me, during sunset (3hours), caused my chest to tan (not burn) and discolored, for about 3 weeks. Use a wash cloth to exfoliate, allowing new skin to take over, when you take a shower and use bath & body wash.

I've been protecting myself from the sun since I was 9.

    1. Because I don't want to look like a farmer.

    2. Because I get too hot.

    3. I want to look like movie stars & models, they have blemish-free skins.

    4. I don't want to look like an old prune or get moles on my neck & face like my aunts.

25% of the sun damage occurs by age 18.

There are many aspects that effect the look of our skin. Stress, diet, exercise, etc.

Start with a good skin care routine. Find out whether you have dry, normal, combination, oily, or sensitive skin. You can have a combination of both. Once you find that out, choose skin care products made for your skin type. If you tend to have more breakouts get one with benzoyl peroxide (2.5% is best..works just as well as 10%). Make sure you have a cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Exfoliate once a week to get dead skin off, you can mix baking soda with your face cleanser to do this.

Next step is to eat healthier. Foods that contain Vitamin A C & E and Omega 3 are best for your skin..lots of fruits and vegetables and some fish basically.

Another step is to exercise regularly. It cleanses your skin and keeps blow flowing well.

Drink lots of water! Get your 8 hours of sleep! If you smoke this is very bad for your skin, quit.

Take an hour out of your day to relax & unstress.

For your body using exfoliating lotions helps with beta hydroxy acids. Like lactic acid lotion (AmLactin) or glycolic lotion (glytone) and for your face, you can do weekly peels at a low percentage. It will help shed old/ dead skin cells and moisturize/ heal your skin. You can read a lot more about how to better your skin at skincaretalk.com. I learned a lot there and my skin is 10x better.
