One of the worst contracts in the NHL. I remember one of the genii on these pages expounding on what a great contract this was and that the Phlyers had scooped the world with this deal. So now he is an anchor on the Kings and LA can't trade him. So now they will try and give him away. So he will be a $5MM cap hit and playing in the AHL. Buyer beware. Worse contract than the Clarkson contract in Toronto.

He went from being a 2010 Olympian and a member of the 2005 WJC team to being an overpaid 4th liner and a possession sinkhole.
Shows you the danger of these uber-long contracts (especially once a player gets close to 30 or over 30).
LAK get some cap relief if he ends up in the AHL but not much.

His production is down, and he's too expensive to trade. He'll be the highest paid member of the Manchester Monarchs if he clears waivers. The Kings could have used a compliance buyout to get out from under his contract, but didn't. Now they're stuck with him.

Most teams put most players on waivers during the season. It helps to figure out who might be interested in a trade.
