Adultery in Islam?

Update:

I've read that, in Islam, no one should be accused of adultery without 4 eyewitnesses to the act. Is this the reality of life in the Muslim world?

    A death sentence. Technically the husband can forgive and nullify the charges regardless of who placed them. Generally though he will not do this no matter how much he cares for her due to the derision and ridicule that will be heaped upon him
