Thoughts on Anderson Silva being tested positive for using anabolic steroids?
News said that Silva tested positive for two anabolic steroids, drostanolone and androstane. Nick Diaz also had elevated levels of marijuana metabolites in his system.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission said that the fight might be ruled out as a 'no-contest'.
What the heck is happening with the athletes today?
This is just bad for their public, knowing Silva is regarded as the greatest mixed martial arts fighter in history. Diaz, on the other hand, has an exception knowing him in and out of the ring as the 'bad boy' image.

The commission also said that the first offense is a suspension for 9 months. So Silva will be out for 9 months. And Diaz might be suspended longer because it is his 3rd offense.
P.S.
Sorry for the multiple updates. YA is having problems.

Disappointing but honestly not unsurprising. The dude just got back from a traumatic injury. And, frankly, he's Brazilian. They tend to take a bit different attitude towards steroids, at least from what I've seen in other MMA fighters. Steroids helps fighters heal. Plus, he's close to 40, and doesn't recover as quickly as he did when he was younger.
If he gets suspended, honestly, I don't think it matters much. With Weidman at the top, with Silva's injuries and age, we'll never see him hold a title again. He'll just have "specialty" matches, if he's smart.

There are a lot of questions to be answered. It's a huge tarnish on his career, and his potential goal of continuing to fight. At the same time, we have to determine if it has something to do with his injury. The whole "Out of Competition" pre fight designation makes it confusing as well. The same thing basically happened to Jon Jones, but beyond cocaine somehow not being considered performance enhancing, there was a leeway given because it wasn't an official pre-fight drug test. That being said, it does raise questions about applying for some sort of exemption or mentioning the use before the fight. He probably wouldn't have gotten away with taking steroids, but if there were some alternative drugs given to him by a health care provider, it probably wouldn't be that big of an issue if it was reported.

This is nothing new in mma or any other sport. People will always try to find a way to give themselves an edge. It happens all of the time in practically every sport. They jus got caught. I can't prove this, but I believe this was not the first time he has used some illegal substances. The difference is this time he got caught. He didn't have time to get it out of his system or use the right masking agent in order not to get caught.

The bad side about this is they are both the face of UFC, Jones & Silva, lost their good images. Jones for using Cocaine and Silva for using Steroids. What would happen to the sport now.
NOW I KNOW WHY SILVA IS DEFENDING JONES. HE EVEN HUGGED HIM AFTER THE FIGHT WITH DIAZ. DANGGGGG!

Fedor is the GOAT officially now. Also GSP is the greatest UFC fighter of all time. Only black supremacists and delusional Silva fanboys will continue to praise a cheater as the greatest.

I suspect he has been on steroids all along, it's just that he screwed up his "cycle" this time. Look at how many drug tests Armstrong passed when he was full of dope the whole time he was competing.

They should suspend him for a year
