How many diapers would I need?

I'm a second time mom (had my other 4-5 years ago... this pregnancy was NOT planned lol) and I cannot remember to save my life what a baby really needs, diaper wise, since I recently picked up couponing and a frugal lifestyle-- which has led me to try for a back stock of diapers, before the baby is due

I'm looking for an ESTIMATE... or what other 2nd time moms have done to be a little prepared for a diaper budget; we all know it can get expensive!

How many diapers would/did you estimate (let's say the child is a 5-6lb newborn, when delivered), till the child reaches 10-14lbs?

How many diapers would you estimate till the child reaches 18-20lbs?

How many diapers till the child reaches 30lbs?

Thanks for the help...

Average is about 10-12 a day for those 9 months and under. At least as best to my recollection. (I had my youngest a little over 4 years ago too.)

I wouldn't stockpile a particular size though. You just never know how quickly they may grow out of one. Or stay in another size. Mine weren't in newborn size long at all. But they were both in size 3 for a while.

*If anyone wants to throw you a shower, maybe have a diaper shower instead where everyone brings a box or pack of diapers. Don't open them until you intend to use them. That way you can always return and get the size you need.

We went through 1 large box of Huggies a month in all sizes as our son has grown up. So the count listed is what lasted us a month...right now he is in 6s and I believe the diaper count is 196 and that lasts us a month. Does that help? Then just gage how long baby will be at the specific weight for each size, I think our son was in 3 or 4 the longest so far.

you only need 1 pack of newborn size, unless the baby is really small when born,

for the first few months, you will be changing the diaper about every 2 hours, we normally changed right after a feeding.

around 6 months 6 a day was normal, and after they are in size 3 they have special overnight diapers.

my son was in sizes 3,4 and 5 the longest. but it depends how fast your baby gains weight. there is normally about a 5lb overlap in diaper sizes, stay in the smaller size as long as you can, because as the sizes get bigger there is fewer in a box, but the cost stays the same.

I know by the time they were six or seven months old, we typically did six to seven diaper changes per day - morning, mid-morning, after lunch, after nap, after supper, and before bed.
