Can you get a restraining order on your kid who is under 18?

I know someone who put a restraining order on their child under the age of 18. Its an extended 1 year restraining order. a 17 year old teenager. Shes now living with a friend and the friends mom is the guardian. it just doesnt make sense to me how can u put a restaining order on your own kid

Update:

well obviously you can get a restraining order on ur kid under 18 if she already has one.... but how that even legal. doesnt make much sense to me unless they are 18 or older

A restringing order is issued to anyone that needs protection. Age does not matter, a 17 year old is quite capable of harming someone.

If you can convince the court your safety is in danger, they will issue a restraining order regardless of age.

If the 17 year old is abusive, it makes perfect sense. Why should a parent have to get smacked around by their spawn?

Sure. Some kids are just to wild, and need the law to set their limits.
