It won't hurt, it may actually help. I use premium fuel in my small engines. Since I don't burn 100's of gallons per year the cost really does not make much difference. The premium fuels tend to have less issues with vapor lock which can help with air cooled engines that tend to run at high operating temps. It can help with hot restarts. It may not be a factor with a snow blower but can be a problem with summer equipment.
The other thing that can be different / better about premium is in some states the premium grade does not contain Ethanol. Ethanol can cause problems in engines that don't get used regularly.
If it was a modernish car that didn't require premium I agree, complete waste of money. You burn more gas so the extra cost really adds up. The fuel injection also pretty much eliminates the vapor lock issue. Most cars don't sit around that much so the Ethanol isn't a problem either.

The average person thinks that premium gas makes more power than regular gas. But that's not the difference. Premium gas burns SLOWER than regular gas, to make more power from an engine with higher compression and more ignition timing. So it will make less power in your regular engine.
I never heard of a 17 hp snowblower. It sounds more like a tractor. Please use the PROPER fuel in it!
p.s. I was so curious about that engine, that I spent the last 20 minutes looking online for specifications. Finally: 254 cc, 12.5 ft/lb, 9 hp.

Bad? No, but it's a waste of money to run premium in anything except for engines that require it.

NO, it won't hurt it. Premium gas, with higher octane, is made for higher compression engines, to keep them from "pinging" ( pre ignition). But using higher octane does not affect anything else, except for being higher priced.
Run it out, and then add regular. you will be okay.

you will not see any real benefits from that and nothing bad from it. look in the owners manual for the recommended octane. then stick with that as your minimum.
