Yes, a nurse should not tell the results of tests to patients as only your doctor has this right. And I agree that sometimes even blood pressure numbers should not be shared with the patient as if it is too high it could make the patient worry about it and thus worsen the condition.

Seems a little odd that the nurse wouldn't share that information with you, but the clinic/hospital may have a policy that only doctors are allowed to share test results with patients.

It is not "ethically" (I don't think you meant ethNICally, did you ;-)) right. With your history of high BP he should of at least had you stick around to do a comparison reading to see if it was leveling off or increasing.
