If I win some money like 2000 maybe 5000 dollars and don't spend it but donate it to a charity will I get cut off my disability benefits?

    If SSDI - no - because SSDI isn't based upon financial need.

    If SSI - yes you will be cut off because you had excess resources and donating the money would make you ineligible because SSI entitlement is based upon financial need. Why should the taxpayers have to pay you a monthly benefit when you clearly aren't in need of it? Report the receipt of the money like you are supposed to and when you have spent it down to under the allowable amount show social security proof of the spend down and you will become re-entitled to SSI.

    Be careful of what you say, Sonny. This site may be monitored by the Central Scrutinizer. The Scrutinizer cares little about "Release of Information" protocols if it serves the purposes of reclaiming any funds they can in order to keep you at a set level of poverty. Hence, you have to "spend down" or be put down.
