There's not much respect around YA now. It lost a huge number of regular contributors when it did its big overhaul and is now mostly used by the very young and/or by trolls. But it still functions as an outlet for those who love to ask questions and those who are addicted to giving advice, just as long as you remember that most of it doesn't really matter a whole heap but that just occasionally there is a genuine person or two who are really appreciative of opinions and advice.

Yes, but too many care in the wrong way, gaming for points and maliciously reporting others for nothing. Maybe I care a little too much... I don't care about the points. I look at the number and think, "divide by 2, give or take, and that's how many people I've tried to help on here." That gives me a good feeling, like I'm trying to make a difference. A lot of others give non-answers for two points and make bets with their friends about who can score the most points. I heard about it but I don't play that. I care about Answers because I want to help.

There used to be larger population of thoughtful participants on here, but it's becoming harder and harder to "care," what with self-appointed Site Police on one hand reporting every little harmless, minor violation, and the trolls on the other hand who are immune to reporting anyway (they don't care about being "reported"). The ennui is compounded by indifferent site administration.
