Okay. I'll take a chance that you really want the opinion of someone who disagrees with you. I am a young earth creationist.
1. Even Ussher Creationists do not believe that the universe is 4000 years old. They believe it was formed in 4004 BC, based on the faulty calculations of an Anglican bishop.
2. All young earth creationists believe that the earth was created with a level of maturity (Adam and Eve were not infants, starlight was visible, watercourses existed, etc.). You can take this to different levels, but the ultimate thing to understand is that YEC Christians believe that reality exists as if God started a DVD on track 20 or so, rather than at track one.
3. There is room for discussion about scientific discoveries (even evolutionary assertions) within YEC Christianity. The ultimate opponent to YEC is philosophical (naturalism) not scientific; but this is often overlooked because of the reactive history of the movement, particularly in Britain and the United States.
If you want to discuss further, I would be willing to talk.

I'm not a christian but thats what creationists would believe. There are a lot of christians that believe that the universe is a lot older than 4000 years old. When I was a christian I didn't believe that the universe was 4000 years old

Who EVER said the universe is only 4 thousand years old? Everyone ---- DON'T BE SILLY --- they are saying the EARTH (get it? THE EARTH, not the UNIVERSE is 6000 years old in the form that it is in today) ---- it could have been 5 billion or more years old, became a chaos, AND THEN RE-MADE 6000 years ago at Genesis 1:1-2.

I personally do not believe God's days are 24 hour earth days, seeing as we use the sun to measure earth days, and the sun wasn't created until day 4. The solar system orbits the galaxy every 250,000,000 years though, and if we multiply that by 7² we get 12.25 billion years.

How can you question someone when you are just as foolish? If the word God says its so then it is not one word in the Bible can be disproven only looked over, misunderstood, or twist by the tongue of a man. I don't care to see your personal proofs Against the bible but Christians need to truly turn to the Creator and his son by turning to the will of the father who is heaven, because Christianity is a weak and false thing to believe. Christians become atheist everyday because when questioned about their "faith" they can't even convince themselves that God is real.

Can you elaborate,i thought atheist debate if it is 6,000 not 4,000.If the universe is 6,000 years that is still old,it is doubtful the universe is billions years old. While the Bible doesn't say exactly how old the universe is,Genesis says God created the heavens and the Earth.
It is a scientific theory that the universe is billions years old not fact,it is doubtful it is billions.

Ha! No one believes it's only 4000 years old. The official number is more like 6000 years.

I am a Christian and I believe that God created the universe 13.7 billion years ago. But if he wanted to make it 4000 years ago and make it look like it took 13.7 billion years ago, then he could do that.
Personally I won't tell God what methods and means he can use to create his universe.

No, it is about 4.5 billion years old. Why would you think it is only 4,000. The scriptures do not state the age of the earth. Hebrew "yom" translated as "day" also means "time period" meaning ages or aeons so certainly it could be 4.5 billion years old. Even a casual reading of the Biblical texts indicates it could not be a literal 24 hour day as the sun/earth system was not even created until the fourth creative time period.

I like what that one guy said about YHWH time. Earth definitely had dinosaurs and mars definitely had life. However, I was never a monkey.... Not a fish. Nada.
However, there was. Time when humans used communication with their minds, like every other animal. Our solar system is young and we don't live that long anymore
