You might point out that this theory, his most famous, he did NOT get a Nobel Prize for. He got it for the "photoelectric effect".

For him the gedanken, or thought experiment, is key to first taking apart every day experience, then to understanding implications.

He also worked hand-in-glove with many other mathematicians and scientists.

For the General Theory of Relativity, he had to teach himself the mathematics of floods (Riemann and other).
