How closer are the LOTR looks to the movies?
I have the books and have been considering reading them, however I understand there very detailed and drawn out which is why i kinda don't know if i will be able to get through them, I prefer fast past novels I can't stand where they spend a whole page on detail. I was just wondering how similar they are to the movies, like i read the Hobbit and it was quite different from the movies but the main list was still there....is it pretty much that same for LOTR? or is it like Series of Unfortunate ev

The detail in the books is overwhelming if you are an impatient reader. Tolkien was horrified at what the industrial age had done to his beloved English countryside, and he paid homage to trees (allowing them to walk and talk) and grassy valleys and flowers, and also to the destruction by Sauron done to the very land, the scorched, lifeless death that Sam and Frodo had to cross...
If you're good at picking visually through a book, you can skip the long descriptives and just start reading again where there is action or speaking again with the characters. If you get hooked, I guarantee you'll go back someday, and read all that you skipped.
