Why is Medieval Chess considered to be more romantic than modern Chess?

    Not so much Medieval chess (when the game was still very much in its infancy) but 19th century chess, when gambits and devil-may-care attacks were in vogue: this was when "romantic" chess was more likely to have taken place. Take a look at some of the games of Paul Morphy or Johannes Zukertort,

    i dont agree all chess is the same it has all the same rules whatever time period your in.
