I'm wondering if I have to file my taxes before I do the FASFA or just my dads need to be filed

No, you don't. You can use estimates and then go back and correct it after you file your return. Many schools have a priority filing date, and if your FAFSA isn't done before then, you won't be considered for some types of aid. So, by all means make sure you submit the FAFSA before that date even if it means using estimated information.
