    1/(1 −1/x) = 1/(x/x −1/x)

    ∴ 1/(1 −1/x) = 1/((x −1)/x)

    ∴ 1/(1 −1/x) = x/(x −1) ;x ≠ 0

    Edit: Also alternative

x/(x −1) = 1 + 1/(x −1) via polynomial long division if you considers the partial fraction the simplest form.

    1 / (1 - 1/x)

First, I'll do the subtraction in the large denominator, which is a subtraction of fractions, so I need a common denominator:

    1 / (x/x - 1/x)

    1 / [(x - 1) / x]

Now I'll turn the division of fractions into a multiplication of the reciprocal:

    1 * (x / (x - 1))

1 times anything is the "anything", so:

    x / (x - 1)
