When a eviction goes to court do all tenants have to appear?
I live with my boyfriend and his family. We are getting evicted. We are all adults. In the letter for court it doesn t say if everyone has to be there. Or just one person. Or just mains on lease or what? I m just confused if me and him need to be there too or just parents?
Thanks in advance.

As a general rule, if your name is on a court summons and complaint, you should appear as demanded by the court, either in person or by attorney. Otherwise, the judge could be insulted, which isn't a good thing. You may or may not lose "by default", depending upon the REASON for the eviction, and whether the landlord has the necessary proof. It's possible that those appearing will be allowed to stay and those NOT appearing in court will be summarily evicted, having waived their right to be heard, let alone appeal (which could be another two weeks or more).

No, everyone does not have to appear. It maybe be useful for some or all to appear if the eviction may be contested.
If no one appears, the matter is lost by default. You're all evicted.
