Because, education is actually a privilege. Yes it is necessary and to say it isn't is ignorant. Our country is founded on capitalism which is dependent upon an educated working class of people. If anything getting educated allows you to have the freedom to become ANYTHING YOU WANT!!! If you would really rather be lazy and never go to school and become poor, uneducated, and living alone in a welfare house then go ahead. But it's people that live in those houses that meet the criteria stated previously that the entire American society HATES. Because by the time you are in that position you are living off OUR money. Our taxes will pay for YOUR food, your cigarettes, and your children. So don't ever question education. It is a PRIVILEGE. Consider the Soviet Union, they mass murdered their highly educated people and then had millions of people that didn't know how to do anything and were subjugated to a horrible rule because they didn't know any different. Also they were forced to work jobs that they could have been under qualified for or over qualified for which reduces a motive to work. Therefore, and I restate. You should thank your country and every tax paying citizen every single night that you have the privilege to have a FREE EDUCATION.

Schooling is for your benefit, an education, with which you can earn a better life.

So reason this with me, even though I'm through with school and working, through taxes I am now paying for your education. Now you want me to pay you to go?

You need to realize what a gift it is that you're receiving, one that you should be willing to pay for!
