The implant (Implanon, Nexplanon) is currently the most reliable birth control available for women, even far more reliable than getting your tubes tied. Its failure rate is 0.05. That means that if 2000 couples use the implant as their only form of birth control for one year, only 1 couple will conceive.
For even more protection the implant can obviously be combined with condoms.
