How costly is it to install a downstairs toilet (just sink and toilet no shower or bath)?
we have some 'dead space' that would fit a downstairs loo. Is it very costly to install one? ie the plumbing etc. We only have 1 small toilet atm
Just estimates not asking for an actual cost.
The new toilet would be right underneath the one upstairs... could they share pipes?

Maybe I can give you "sort" of an idea. First of all, I live in Canada
so obviously I was given Canadian cost. I was seriously thinking of
having only an extra toilet put in this house. The plumbing pipes all
line up with the upstairs bathroom. They can be put on the same
stack by the way. The cost of the toilet would be about $150.00
plus tax. The guy that I would hire came and looked at the set up
and quoted me between $400.00 and $600.00 dollars Canadian.
I hope that helps.

NO way to tell you that. I'm a professional construction estimator and would never quote a price without looking at a job. It not only depends on how near the drain lines and water lines are, but what area of the country you live in (some regions costs will be more than twice what they are in others.) You have to have a contractor look at your installation to give you a quote on what would be involved. I highly recommend subscribing to Angie's List to be able to find qualified contractors -- I've had great experience with them. Also, you can look at other customers in your area's responses and descriptions of jobs they have had done by various contractors which will sometimes say what they paid for the work.

If it is directly below the upstairs one, this might have been no news to the builder. See if there may be a fitting already there for a toilet in the position. In that case it would be fairly simple. I don't think there is any problem with them both on one stack.

There is only one way to get a reasonable answer. Talk with a plumber to see the cost of the work and then you have to decide if you or someone else will frame in the area like a proper wash room.

pipes and drains and loo-seat and sink [[[ basically it is a power room ]]] around $800 to $1200.00 USD .. a tile floor is easy to install and looks good, easy to clean

It will all depend on how far the plumber has to move/add piping. If it's near it won't be bad. A long distance will be expensive.

The basement might be below the sewer line so the toilet might not flush. Something to consider.
