The paint color depends on what other colors you are using in the room. The paint color is usually picked in conjunction with the window treatments and the upholstered furniture. If you have no furnishings as of yet, pick them out first, then pick the paint color. You see, the shades of paint far outnumber the choices you have in fabric colors. So, if you pick out the furniture first, the color of the walls will be a simple task.
But, to answer directly, colors that go well with brown are neutral colors that you would find in nature, such as green
and tan shades. Depending on the lighting in the room, you could go with off white walls and use a nice and bright color on a feature wall, such as coral, apple green, terra cotta, rusty orange and maybe burnt oranges.
You need some inspiration to pick your paint color. Do you have a piece of art work or a favorite throw pillow or perhaps or furnishings where you can obtain color inspiration?

Hi - Teal is a nice colour that goes with brown - but perhaps put it on a 'feature' wall i.e. your fireplace wall or the wall that you face when you sit on your sofa and then use it for either cushions and/or curtains or a lamp shade etc. Whatever colour you use for your 'feature' wall then bring out that colour with other items to bring the look together. Your other walls could be in say, a magnolia or light beige/creams.
Red is also another colour that looks brilliant with brown - have a look here to see how these two colours can look with the brown :)
