distributor points burned?

My car was sputtering one day. I turned it off, started it back up and it started fine then died again. It did that twice in a row. I then tried starting it again and had no signs of starting. I kept trying for two hours to no avail. A mechanic told me its the points that went out. Its not a fuel issue. I'm certain, nor battery, starter, nor plugs wires or coil.

Cars have not had distributor points since around 1975. What make, model and year is your car?

If you're driving a car old enough to have "points" and don't know how to do your own repairs then it's time buy a new car or a bus pass.

Who in there right mind does the same thing for two hours and gets the same results and expects something different to happen. Oh that would be you.
