Who has a more positive outlook on the future, those that believe in God or those who don't believe in God?

--- What good is a positive outlook if it doesn't function in the practical aspects of real life? When it comes to transportation, would you rather have a 2015 Mercedes with no engine....or 1987 Cutlass Ceria that runs well?

To even ask this presumes that "feeling good" is the only thing that matters in life....in which case every benefit of religion is also offered by a 3 day weekend and a few eight balls of coke.

As for which outlook is actually more positive...it's impossible to say. That's because a 40 year old man who believes elves live in his underpants may find that belief pleasing....but it probably isn't having many positive effects on his life.

Looking forward to God's Kingdom taking control of earth's affairs is a positive future to be sure. To live under one government... God's, and to have a moral code that respects all humans and deals with everyone with love is a future I could not live without. To have the hope of everlasting life on a paradise earth where there is no death, suffering, wickedness, deceit, anger or fear gives even those suffering debilitating illness every day right now, a very positive outlook. This is the real hope I have learned from the scriptures after studying them for thirty four years. It seems optimistic indeed.

To answer this question, we first need to see what the outlook is for both sides.

For those who don't believe in God, generally speaking, their views are having a good life till the day they die. That signifies having a good job, getting a big house, having a lot of money, etc. But when someone passes away, their possessions cannot go with them.

Now how about for those who do believe in God? In Luc 23:43, Jesus clearly stated: "You will be with me in Paradise". In order for that to occur, we can not just simply believe in God but to also get to know him in order to see what the future holds for those who do. The source listed below will help answer your question even more.

ACCORDING to the Bible, God, is supremely intelligent. He is the Source of all cosmic power and the Creator of the universe. (Psalm 83:18; 92:5) The first chapter of the Bible states: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Thereafter, God made man in his “image”—that is to say, with qualities like his own—and God told man to multiply and fill the earth.—Genesis 1:1, 26, 28.

Does this mean we here merely to enjoy life for a few decades, eat, drink, and produce offspring? God created mankind as an expression of his love—he wanted to share life and happiness with humans. Doubtless, God experienced great joy in fashioning physical creations of all kinds, so that man would be surrounded by beauty and plenty. Above all, humans were to have a meaningful relationship with their Creator, knowing him and communicating with him. They were created to live forever under perfect, peaceful conditions.—Genesis 3:8, 9; Psalm 37:11, 29. God also assigned humans fulfilling and meaningful work to do. God told the first humans: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:28) The first couple and their offspring were to transform the whole earth into a paradise of pleasure.Things did not immediately work out as God purposed. Nevertheless, God’s original purpose for mankind will be fulfilled.—Isaiah 46:9-11; 55:11.

Let's assume for this text that the whole idea of God is foreign and has not been fully discovered. He is offering a free pass to living forever in what we would describe as paradise in a spiritual body that will be free from worry, pain,or dread (even mosquitoes) which when we believe what He and His son did for us promises that no force on earth can steal you away from His love. And what sets Him apart from anything else in this existence is He is not of this world and He NEVER LIES. This reality is by far the better deal than the one which says this life is all your going to get. Another cool thing- it doesn't matter what you did, Jesus will accept you (Why?) Because He promises to- He called Judas friend, knowing full well what he was about to betray Him.

Positive people have a more positive outlook on the future. It makes no difference if you believe in a God or not.

Those who don't believe in God because we believe that you live your one life and that's it so we better help those struggling and make the most of our lives

Have you read some of the fundie boards? I've never seen such a bunch of hopeless, depressed people. All they have to look forward to is Jesus whisking them away to heaven before the world gets any worse.

In the bible God promises some wonderful things in the future. Psalms 37:10,11 he promises to remove wicked people and save righteous people and let them live in peace. That's a great promise to look forward to!

Well, a lot of religious people keep going on about the end of the world and being tortured after death. But for the most part, I think it depends on the individual.
