I just found out that my A1C is 6.7 and my doctor prescribed a medication that is 500MG.?

I'd like to get a home remedy for this and if possible menus to help me start on a diet plan. I take other medication and I feel like this is too much MGs to add to the medications that I already take. plus the warnings on this medication leaves me fearful of taking it. I try to make my doctor to understand about these warning is what makes me reluctant to take them but I don't think she still understand why I don't wan to take them.

There is NO "home remedy" for diabetes.

If you want advice, then you NEED to tell us what medication the doctor prescribed. You would also have to tell us what else you are taking. If the new medication is Metformin, then that is very common and has been used for 30+ years. It may cause a few GI symptoms in some people for a while, but those will go away after you take it for a while.

You NEED to talk to your doctor about ALL of your concerns. If you do not, then she cannot effectively treat you.

Diet and exercise can help to keep your glucose levels down. That is part of what you should talk with your doctor about. Are there any diabetes educators in your area to whom she could refer you.

    It's probably metformin.

Honestly, of all the medications out there, metformin is one of the safer ones, but I sympathize with the desire not to take medications. However, it should be strongly stressed that home remedies can be just as dangerous as prescription medications !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest you start checking your blood sugar at home frequently. That way you can monitor how your diet (and anything else you do or don't do) impacts your blood sugar and do something that works for you.

thank you both for your advice. it is mostly the warnings on the different medications that I fear. because I have asthma and sinus and on this medication it warns that it could affect my breathing and heart. I protest so much about these medications that I'm afraid I'm being difficult as a patient. but my point is that I live alone and if anything happens to me no one will know to help me. my son lives next door in the next building, but he don't check on me every day
