BIG mistake. N$EVER run more than one active anti-virus. They can conflict, seeing each other as attacking and block each other. That reduces security by up to 60 %. And anti-malware does NOT protect against security holes that could permit direct hacker access to the machine, nor do they update your system to accommodate changes to web sites and other software due to similar problems.

You never need to have more than one Anti-virus program installed on your computer. Because they can, will conflict with each other and you may end up without any protection at all.

Yes. New malware is being written every minute. and those fancy-pants Security Systems can only detect and eliminate what they know about, now.
