p1 = p^ - ME
pu = p^ + ME ---- where ME = margin of error
0.322 = p^ - ME
0.354 = p^ + ME
add:
0.676 = 2p^
p^ = 0.338
b)
You may use either of the two equations in (a)
0.322 = p^ - ME
0.322 = 0.338 - ME
ME = 338-0.322 = 0.016
c)
ME = SE*1.96
0.016 = SE (1.96)
SE = 0.016 / 1.96 = 0.00816
d)
Standard error = sqrt [ p^(1-p^) / n]
0.016 = sqrt [ (0.338)(0.662) / n] *1.96
sqrt [ (0.338)(0.662) / n] = 0.016/1.96
(0.336)(0.662) / n = ( 0.016/1.96)^2
0.222432 /n = 0.0000666
n = 0.222432 / 0.0000666 = 3339.8 = 3340
