Why did Alex Riley become a commentator and stop wrestling?

I just watched tonight's NXT where he made his return and he was crying so I was wondering what actually made him leave wrestling in the first place? Was it an injury? Or is it another reason?

    Alex Riley got injured, don't believe the whole Riley Vs Cena BS.

    Besides even if there is truth in what 'Dirt Sheet' says about the issue apparently John Cena ribbed 'The New Guy' Alex Riley and Riley lost his .... about it, I'll give you a tip in pro wrestling; if you enter a promotion don't expect nobody to kiss your ... and don't expect to blow up at a veteran and get away with it.

    Personally I believe Alex Riley should remain as a commentator, it pretty much saved his career.

    I heard that Riley & Cena got into an altercation, and unfortunately it ended Riley's push after breaking away from The Miz.

    Riley is getting a second chance.
