Anti-feminists, and I know there are more than a few of you on here, what's your beef?

This might be pandoras box, but I don't care - I'm sick of the ill-thought out questions on Social Science which clutter the feed.

The majority of feminists are men and women who do want an equal society - where people are not treated differently based on their gender.

It's very simple. Some people make it complicated (that's what happens when people talk for an extended period of time) but the bottom line is literally that simple.

They aren't men who are white-knighting to pretend to be on women's sides to sleep with them, they are men who respect women as equally as they want to be respected by them.

They aren't man hating lesbians who only want to kick men down in petty revenge, they are women who want to feel as safe and as confident in the world as any man does. The fact that the world is balanced against this wish makes some of them angry, which is understandable.

That isn't to say men don't get raped (they do) and that's not to say women are not violent (again, some of them are). But the point of the fact is we do live in a world where people treat you differently if you are a woman simply because you are a woman, and it isn't necessary or fair.

To be "for equality" doesn't mean that you are a chauvinist for holding open a door for someone, it means you hold the door open for anyone, no matter who they are.

(this is only confined to the western world - if you think that the rest of the world doesn't need equal rights for women, you are a psychopath)

Update:

I'll add that anyone writing "all feminists" or "feminists want" in their answer needs to provide some proof of their assertions, otherwise I'll rightly ignore it.

I believe men and women should be treated equally under the law, so I have a beef with the fact leading feminist organizations have pushed for and obtained many policies which gender discriminate and are not equal. I also dislike all the misleading and false propaganda feminists push to support their agenda, saying the wage gap is sue to discrimination or saying 1 in 4 college women are raped for example. Such false information only serves to crate hostility. It's not productive.

Privileges that advantage women over men feminists have fought for and won include being advantaged in hiring under aa, advantaging women-owned businesses, and disadvantaging boys in school. For a more extensive list with links, see my answer here:

Self empowering movements will always reach a level where people will be more greedy and self entitled. Some feminists are not man haters, but many tend to try to silence those who have a different opinion towards feminism. Even women who don't want to associate with feminist movements are shamed and looked down upon by the movement. Modern feminism is about benefiting the feminists themselves so that they will gain priority using the term equality.

Btw, Im not necessarily against feminism. I don't like how you try to label anti feminists as somewhat irrational, by calling them out. A rational feminist should give others a chance to voice their opinions- and that is what feminists should work on.

If you own the label, so be it- you are responsible for keeping the movement as a equality movement. Hope this helps :)

    Don't be a hypocrite.

In this entire question you make unwarranted generalizations about not just feminist's but various groups of people or things.

I have literally never seen modern western feminists advocate for people not to be treated differently based on their gender in either law or public policy.

I've seen a lot of incredibly contrived justifications as to why it's ok to have special rules, laws, organizations and spaces for women - in the name of equality. The feminism i've witnessed is never about taking the gender out of the equation, it's always about making gender the focus of how a person is judged.

But hey you can claim what you want. Black is white, whatever.

The idealistic view of feminism being all about "equality" sounds nice, but reality doesn't necessarily reflect the ideal. Many people who call themselves "feminists" have a "beef" with men. Feminists and feminist organizations focus on women/girls with little or no regard for issues that affect men/boys, often effectively fighting for preferential treatment for women. This is not "equality".

Mine is simply that it is a canard to say that men and women are equal to each other. There are significant differences which make it clear that one gender is better at some things than the other gender. Women should be treated different because they are women.

All the feminist ideals of manipulating systems in order to paint-over inherent inequality is just artificial. To me it's akin to "playing house."

I'm not a feminist nor an anti-feminist, but here is my beef. Tell me this article isn't the feminist version of "Shut up and go make me a sammich." http://feministcurrent.com/7988/how-to-be-a-male-f...

My problem with you guys is that you think anyone who doesn't want to be a feminist is a misogynistic psychopath. You think we don't want women to have rights. This is like when Christians say that atheists don't have morals just because they're not Christians. I feel like y'all are trying to threaten me into being one of you.

"The majority of feminists are men and women who do want an equal society - where people are not treated differently based on their gender. "

So do the majority of the anti-feminists. So what exactly divides us?

Yes, well, anti-feminist men are just as respectful. Feminism does not own the word respect.
