why are PSU installed at the bottom now?

my PSU only lasts for 5 years. The fan started to make noise. Sometimes it spinned sometimes it didn't. sometimes it's slow. I believe it's caused by fluffy dust. Really, there's so much dust fall into it. and last week smoke came out from the PSU and it's officially pronounced dead.

I am trying to find a gaming mid tower with the PSU installed on top but i couldnt find any. Having a PSU installed at the top really reduces dust fall into it. Like my old WinXP workstation PC. Only some dust on the fan blades, not much inside.

They are installed at the bottom now to avoid the hot air from the GPU and CPU fans pushing the air up out of the case. Overall, they just do it to keep the PSU much cooler now. They do exist being top mounted though. I recommend you try and browse through PCPartPicker's library of cases and see if you can find one that way.
