Can I have some advice on what to expect when going to see F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne for the first time?

Hi,

I am going with my 11-years old son for the first time to F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne. Can I have some inputs on:

1. Ticket purchase: better to purchase online/at the venue?

2. Are there undercover area in there?

3. Where are the best place to be during the race?

4. What's food like there? Expensive?

Thank you for your help. My son has been looking forward for this trip and I want him to have the best experience.

You mean...the grand prix...that started on Thursday and has qualifying TODAY?

    1. better to buy at the venue at this late stage.

    2. Um, no? It's an outdoor event, duh. Take a poncho in case it rains and a sunhat and sunscreen. You will also need earplugs - the F1 cars might bs disappointingly quiet now but the V8s are headache-inducing.

    3. The best place to sit is in the Brabham grandstand (outside of T1) or the Jones stand (inside of T1). I doubt you'll be able to buy tickets for those stands this late. I think they sell single-day tickets for the Schumacher and Webber stands. A grandstand is the best place to sit; general admission means you have to get there early and then not move, and you'll get trampled all day long. Grandstand tickets are, of course, more expensive.

    4. Of course the food is expensive. I've never been to a sporting event where it's cheap. It's mostly chips/hot dogs, but there are a few (even more expensive) gourmet options.

    5. DON'T LEAVE IT LAST MINUTE!
