Christians, pagans, Atheist and others: do you celebrate ST. Patrick's day?

Was not his message to drive out the snakes, of lust, anger, and greed and give way to generosity, love and pesce?

Update:

give way, to generosity, love and peace (sorry for the slip of the old fingers)

I'm a Christian and so I focus my attention on Christ Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith. I do not celebrate the life of mere mortals, even though they were Christian and set a fine example of how the Christian life should be lived.

On Friday 3 April I will be celebrating the significance of Passover, and what my Lord and Saviour endured so that sinners like you, me (and Patrick) could be redeemed by His shed blood.

I found a great article about Patrick. Like me, he was Scottish. Unlike me, he was kidnapped by Celtic raiders and taken to Ireland as a slave. Very interesting story....

I have a distant Irish heritage from my father's side of the family. I don't really make it a serious holiday to celebrate. When I have knowledge about it ahead of time during early March and feel in the mood...then I will wear green on St. Patrick's Day. I might just wear green on the 17th of this month. :-)

St. Patrick was a Catholic Bishop that was successful at converting the Celts of Ireland to Christianity by focusing on converting their Priests the Druids. The Druids were into human sacrifice and worships Pagan gods and the Celts religion was war based they were not a peaceful or friendly people. By St. Patrick converting them to Christianity is in relation to the snakes being chased out of Ireland (evil).

Meh, I never celebrated it because I'm from India and never thought Saint Patrick's was very important. Nowhere close to as important as Halloween or Christmas.

Not really, no. I have no Irish heritage and it's too much of a pain to try going to a restaurant that day when everyone else is out.

No, he was given Sainthood for bringing literacy to the Irish. Americans celebrate the day because the Irish helped build our country and we like an excuse to get drunk.

I also love the shamrock shake at McDonalds even though it gives me green stool for 5 days.
