Why are the British so hostile to a satirist and joker like Clarkson?

We have few facts on what actually happened. We know there was a violent disagreement but we don't have Clarkson story or any idea of why this occurred.

We have no idea on the actions of either man in this incident and the media are not even asking for the facts.

A funny and clever man who says what he thinks and sticks his head up above the parapet.

Will his own bring him and Britain down and win the war for the grey PC suits?

Banter and jokes should not be removed from our media.

From what I've seen, the GBP seem to be overwhelming supporting this idiot. And that's what amazes me. The man was allegedly out of control ... over a plate of steak? Quite ridiculous. We don't know exactly what went on, but the man was on a final warning and he STILL took a pop at somebody, used attrocious language by all accounts. Again over not getting a hot meal? They were delayed (lack of communication with the hotel?) and the kitchen staff surely couldn't be kept hanging around to provide a FREE hot meal for them? It wasn't as if there was no food - as said before, Clarkson would do well to remember the thousands who had no food at all that evening.

I have no longer any time for the man basically since he and his 2 co-presenters/producers? ruined what used to be a good motoring show. People who get above themselves, as this man has, and become a bully cease to be either a satirist, or a joker. It's not clever or funny, just rather juvenile.

If the show folds, the only one I slightly feel for is James May. Certainly not Clarkson and to a lesser extent these days, Hammond.

Clarkson the Heavyweight Satirist! I hear Lenny Henry is going to do the very same thing next week, as he has seen the love and respect people have on here for Jez's actions. If there's no curried goat, rice & peas at midnight after his Royal Tunbridge Wells gig, he's gonna box da 65 year old ticket seller.

And anyone who thought he did wrong is a Guardian reading dimwit.

The british are not hostile to J Clarkson, otherwise you would not get nearly 1 million signatures to reinstate him,it is the gutter press as usual keeping the argument going just to sell their papers,Other factures are a t fault here?how dare a hotel stop cooking at 9 to 9.30 pm,I would also be furious having worked all day and then to find out there was NO food availablel,If I was jeremy I would certainly advertise the name of the hotel that will not supply food after 9.30 pm it is scandalas, they should not be in the hotel business at all ok.

Other residents at the hotel witnessed it and were interviewed on the t.v. and said he behaved violently, used a racist remark and swore loudly while publicly humiliating the staff member. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if he deliberately indulges in these provocative outbursts to keep a high profile knowing he'll get away with it. If we accept his behaviour then everyone should be allowed to treat other work colleagues the same. Yeah that'll work/not.

Banter and jokes are one thing, drunkenly punching a producer because he failed to produce a hot meal is something else. Clarkson has shown himself up as a boor and a bully once too often, the BBC should just ditch him - his contract is up in a couple of months anyway so they could just decline to renew it.

Not all Brits! Those who are hostile are probably the same people who defend Charlie Hébdo's right to publish cartoons lampooning followers of all religions.

I am not hostile towards him but I am curious, It is a strange business, he had a violent altercation with his producer then reported himself to his bosses at the BBC, the bosses who previously issued him with a "final warning" about his behaviour. It may be he wants out of his contract and do other things.

Because he's a narrow minded bigot and complete arrse - an unpleasant person all round.

Hosting a highly popular TV series DOES NOT give him the right to do as he pleases with no consequences.

Maybe because he continually crosses the line. Perhaps he bullies and intimidates people who are only doing their jobs. Perhaps he is a complete Pratt who does what he can to crush people. Maybe, just maybe, he isn't that funny.
