There is no average ASVAB score. Yes it is a percentile score in which the highest score is 99 not 100. They are four exams that help determine the jobs you are most qualified to perform. For example, a 44 on the General exam qualifies you for a Pararescue job while a score of 35 on the Administrative exam would qualify for a job in Traffic Management. Some jobs require scores on two exams such as Airfield Management with General score of 50 and a Mechnical score of 40.

As it is a percentile score and not a composite score, the average is literally a 50.

Actually it is 49....which means you scored better than 49% of the base test population, or at the 50th percentile.
