How, then, would a true follower of Christ conduct himself?

He would do as Jesus did. While faithfully obeying the laws of the land, he would remain strictly neutral regarding political affairs. (John 12:47, 48) He would not compromise Christian principles, even when under great pressure. (1 Peter 2:21-23) At the same time, he could not be just a disinterested observer. A true Christian would take an active interest in the welfare of those around him, as Jesus did. (Mark 6:34) He would also expend himself in helping others to lead happier lives by helping them understand and live by Christ’s teachings.—John 13:17.

Accordingly, Jehovah’s Witnesses today strive to imitate Christ in their relationship with the world around them. While being peaceful law-abiding citizens, they are no part of the world. As Jesus did, they refuse to be part of the violence and political wrangling so common today. Their hope is firmly fixed on the Kingdom of God as the solution to the problems facing the world. True Christianity results in a happier life and harmony among its members. (John 13:34, 35) It certainly has not failed.

You have left out a LOT. Jesus said repeatedly that when you go out into the world to spread the gospel, you should first give up all that you own, and take nothing with you. The reason for this is obvious. They were going to cross deserts with no food or water, depending on "abba" to take care of them. Then, when they arrived in distant towns and were veery healthy, the people would recognize the good news (we don't need money or weapons), becaause they were able to behold the evidence. They would be recognized by their fruit.

The only time JEsus is alleged to have said to go out and preach the gospel without also saying to first give up all that you own, he did so as a ghost, and he was talking to the disciples who had ALREADY given up all that they owned in order to follow Jesus.

If the JWs would do that, I would have reason to listen to what they have to say. I would want to hear about how you managed to become like the lilies of the field, not worrying about what you will eat or wear or drink because you have accomplished what Jesus did. (He said that those who come after him will do greater things than he has done)

There is one modern day person who did the same thing. She was called "Peace Pilgrim". She wanted to know if she would be taken care of if she gave up all that she owned and trusted whatever it was within her (Jesus said it is the kingdom of heaven) to take care of her. It did. YOu can read her book for free on line. Just google Peace Pilgrim

Exactly. Jesus said to follow his example, even though you can't be him, you can elevate your self with his example and follow it.

He didn't say, just be your self til I get back guys, see you in a few thousand years. No. He said he will be around you always and the people who follow his ideals will be the most successful in life. Because it's harder to succeed in life if you ignore that stuff, then if you were a camel trying to fit through the eye of a needle. So love your friends and enemys and give. Think about things ahead of time and always be the best you can.

He did not say, be lazy and selfish and only concerned for your own needs. He said adjust your needs for your fellow man.

Read about St. Francis. He was worried about a broken down chapel that needed very serious repairs. His dad was rich and he took some old, unused linens to donate to the chapel. When his dad found out, he went to the chapel and demanded that he gets paid for the linens. Since they had not yet been sold, the bishop ordered Francis to return them. So he did. He also stripped down naked and threw his clothes at his father and said "I no longer have a father on earth. From now on, I will only say Our Father who art in Heaven." Jesus was not neutral in political issues. His disruption of the political climate is one reason why the Pharisees had a bounty on him.

Jesus said to occupy until He returns

that doesnt mean being like the three blind mice

Jehovah’s Witnesses are told that salvation is impossible outside of the Watchtower.

They are not allowed to question the Watchtower leadership or teaching.

They claim you need to read the Watchtower’s magazines and other material in order to understand the Bible correctly. If you don’t read the Watchtower’s books, you will “fall into darkness” – what they call reverting to normal Christianity.

They have falsely predicted the end of the world five times.

I trust in God as Jesus did. And I would expect a legalistic denomination such as the Jehovah's Witnesses to approve of their own works for righteousness, like you are suggesting. You convince yourself of your own righteousness.
