Is the theoretical MULTIVERSE falling by the wayside?

In my uninformed opinion (I am not a physicist or mathematician), the multiverse is a logical leap to far. If String theory requires the multiverse, then for me; that disproves string theory. I'm curious to get your opinions on the matter.

I've heard rumblings lately that string theory is coming unraveled and was curious what you folks think about the whole multiverse. In your opinion, does it stand alone regardless of string theory? Or does it fall by the wayside too?

I presume like many uninformed you are confusing the multiverse and many worlds models. The multiverse (multiple universes) model is alive and well. This simply says if there is one like ours (and there is) why not more universes that lie beyond ours?

On the other hand, the many worlds model, which most do not subscribe to, says there are parallel time lines of this the same universe. In other words one universe, but multiple versions of it.

And neither the multiverse nor the many worlds model is defined by string theory. String theory does posit higher spatial dimensions, but only as a math property to make "silly" answers, like probabilities greater than one, occur in the results. But higher dimensions does not mean many worlds.

There is nothing in string theory that requires a multiverse. Period.
