At the time, the loudest critics of giving weapons to the Syrian rebels were pro-Assad Republican conservatives. Unfortunately, Obama listened t them -- so yes, he blew it. If he'd gone with his first approach and armed the rebels and ignored the conservatives, we might not have ISIS to deal with.

Giving weapons to anyone has not worked since we helped the French seek independence. lol Reagan gave weapons to Iran. Oh look now we want to go to war with Iran. Bush Sr. gave weapons to multiple middle easterns sects. Oh look those same groups of rebels now hate America. Tell me if you give Guns, money, and power to a country who later betrays you, is it their fault for backstabbing or your fault for foolishly supplying them?
