How do I test the wiring going to my oil pressure sending unit? Its a Jeep 97 Grand Cherokee, I sprayed it with WD-40?

I rebuilt my 4.0 jeep engine, and I am having a problem with my oil pressure, I have replaced the oil pressure sending unit, replaced oil pump with a High Volume pump, all of the torques are correct. Before I dropped the engine back in, I sprayed WD-40(big mistake!!) in the interior of the engine electrical connecting units, frying my crankshaft sensor. I think the oil pressure gauge is at fault. It starts up nice and smooth, but the gauge reads -0-, and I do not want to risk driving it, for it might ruin, whats left of my engine..

If your engine sounds good running you have good pressure. There is a reference voltage to the sender, if you Ground it the gage should peg..read all the way high. Because it's electrical check all your fuses if you don't have any voltage at the plug. It should be around 5 Volts.

I started it, and let it reach almost to operating temperature, and then suddenly, I got oil pressure!!(40lbs), Next, a check engine light comes on, I checked the code, and it is the cam sensor in the distributor, I already changed the crank sensor. I knew I should have bought a brand new distributor, with a rebuilt engine. Solved!!
