I don't want to be apart of this society anymore?

I am 20 years old now and I don't want to be a part of this society.

Everything just seems so sinister. I was studying to be a journalist and musician in college, so I follow entertainment news and global news everyday. I realized that entertainment has really taken over this world for sure. New tv shows are being created everyday. If you go on Netflix, you don't even know what to freaking watch. There shows have been produced than the last 5 years. I feel like it's suffocating.

What bothers me more as a 20 year old are the kids and youth my age today. I feel like the pressures to fit and be like everyone is stronger than ever. People would say to parents 'it's your jobs to monitor what your children watch", but how could they do that. As soon as your children walk out of your house, they exposed to these pressures immediately. Fashion to music and even the slang they hear in the halls. Schools today have become a day time party for kids.My point is these societal pressures are stronger than ever that nowadays it takes guts to be yourself and not to be afraid.

I feel like this country is letting our youth down. I feel like they don't care about the students as much as they claim. As I work on my degree, ask myself often "I am wasting my life?" I feel like everything is just an illusion. I feel so empty in my heart. I feel so empty in this world. I don't know if any of these truly do matter. I am not christian or religious, but i feel we all forgot about your souls.
