BMW Deposit?

I recently put a deposit on a BMW 4 series however the credit department was closed. I was asked to leave a deposit so I left $500. On the contract it says deposit hold due to finance department and terms. What does that mean? Basically if im not approved for the car will I have a hard time getting back my money?

    If they decline your application you get your deposit back .

    All the deposit is for is to sort out the tire kickers and time wasters. It shows you are serious about doing the deal.
