iPhone 5 with bad ESN, how do I activate it?
Hello, I recently just bought an iPhone 5 with a bad ESN. Yes, I'm fully aware what that means. I know I can't use it as a phone, but that's not what I'm trying to use it as. I'm just trying to use it as more of an iPod with WiFi. But I'm wondering, how do I activate it? I'm told I need a sim card, so can I just buy one off Amazon and will that work? I don't have a cell phone carrier.

You should be able to stick any SIM card into the phone and use it for an Ipod and a Wi-Fi device. I would just purchase the cheapest prepaid SIM card you can find and try it.

The carrier that locked it must unlock it, but it is unlikely to do that for a stolen phone.
