Would you describe, according to your own perception, good and effective martial arts as beautiful and either yes or no, why?

Thanks in advance for all the answers and feel free to elaborate.:)

Yes I might use that term and maybe have in the past. I have had the opportunity to watch some of the top martial artists in the world fight as well as do kata and weapons kata. I have even competed against some of them back in the days when I competed and watch them up close. Up close you really have more of an opportunity to really see the degree of skill and level of their technique and its execution much more easily than when sitting further away. Sometimes cameras up close like on television don't even do this justice really and allow a viewer to see things like what I am saying here. That is why I have in the past said in this forum that any real fan of any sport should at some time sit up close so that they really can see up close things that are not evident otherwise when sitting further away or watching it on television.

Baseball along with fighting and martial arts are three such things, where sitting up close like behind home plate, or ring side will give you a much different view and more of an appreciation I think for what those athletes do and the level of skill and technique that they display and use that often is lost when sitting further away or not caught on cameras.

I'm not sure if I would use the term beautiful for most of the effective martial arts. The more amazing it looks the less likely it will work with the exception of Judo throws and some aikijujutsu techniques. kicking someone in the nads and raking their eyes isn't exactly beautiful.

Yes. Beautiful in its simplicity. Beautiful in how it's executed, though not necessarily WHAT is being executed. When you see a textbook slip-and-counter, a picture-perfect transition on the ground, a chaining of takedowns that clearly shows the attacker is thinking six steps ahead of the other guy... THAT is beautiful. Maybe not on an aesthetic level, but, as someone who trains, on a deeper level, to me, because I know how hard "perfect" execution is.

"Good" and "beautiful" depends on the eyes of the beholder.

But generally speaking, yes, I would agree that effective techniques tends to be beautiful in my eyes. What is effective tends to be simple and direct. And the ultimate expression of sophistication is simplicity.

Now, if you meant flashy moves by "beautiful", then I would have to disagree.

Actually in my opinion, beautiful or not as long as it's effective, I don't care what it looks like XD but yah you can say that
