Should you have to go to school/work if your sick mentally?

i mean as in your really depressed, stressed, etc. Do you think being sick mentally is just as important or more important as physical or what?

(personally i believe people who have mental health problems be allowed to have time off school or work)

Update:

i mean leaving school for a time to get better from the problem not running away, if you get me ? does that make sense?

I don't think you should. Mental health should ideally be treated the same as physical health, though it is unlikely it will be anytime soon. e.g if you had a broken leg that stopped you from working you'd be granted time off and no one would think otherwise, whereas if you stated you had depression you'd be allowed time off but probably be given the sack not too long after. Each to their own.

I agree, I feel it should be a reason. I think with a letter from a doctor a leave would be possible.

being around people and having a task helps me, and I find that if you allow an excuse like that, people will abuse it

not going to school isn't going to solve your depression.
