spanish style macaroni salad recipe?
I've been trying to get a nice spanish style macaroni salad but trying to add a meat and discard some of the veggies due to a few picky butts. Could someone help me out with a recipe that doesn't have olives, tomatoes, or too much bell peppers? The meat I'd like to add is baby shrimp... help if possible.

Cottage cheese(low fat) and lite string cheese are great protein sources when you need something quick and easy. Be careful with all the items you listed above that include cheese, because if you eat a bunch of fatty cheese, you might as well be eating a steak(fat wise). Look for low-fat and non-fat dairy products, they have the same amount of protein and nutrients. I noticed you don't have many vegetables or fruit listed on there. Spinach (I like the frozen kind) has protein and iron in it. I think one of the main reasons that a vegetarian lifestyle is so healthy is because we end up eating so many more fruits and veggies than your average meat eater. I hate soy products, too, so I like to make veggie burger patties out of black beans with a whole wheat bun. (There are recipes online.) Also- try switching to whole wheat breads, pastas, etc. because they usually have more protein and fiber. MMMMMM......mmmmm...GOOD!
