Dancers: what sort of dancer are you?
This is a really open question, you can literally say anything about your dance 'life' :) I'm just curious about other dancers
E.g what styles do you dance?
Do you dance for a crew or at a dance school?
Can you freestyle? Or choreograph?
Any accomplishments? Etc...

I came to dance after a career in music. A guy at the gym asked me about my stretching, asking if I'm in Judo or something, when I said ballet, he made a funny face to which I said "they're about the same thing," He walked off with a scoff, saying "they are NOT the same thing."
But the fact is, they are. All forms of dance, music, yoga and Qigong etc are kinetics, studies in movement. I personally like the classic modern forms of dance where it's all about efficiency and problem solving. How are you going to get from point a to point b without looking like an ***?
I took classes at my old college after I graduated and there were little concerts, in all reality, recitals that I did a few times. It was fun. I can choreograph for myself at least, I don't think I have enough background to understand how to make people work together too well. What was also fun for me was the journals and research papers. I don't just shake my butt, I know why I am shaking my butt and can discuss the purposes. I can't freestyle per se. I need time to work out the kinks. When people find out I've been in dance, they want me to go to the club and I refuse. I just don't get it.

I'm a ballet dancer who started at age 13. I'll be turning 20 this summer, and I currently dance about 12 1/2 hours per week, including pointe. I'm not a great dancer, but I think I'm pretty good, and I'm constantly improving. I think my biggest strength is my perseverance and my musicality.
I've been playing piano since I was 6, and have always been told I'm very musical and expressive with my playing. I think all of my piano experience has helped translate into musicality for ballet.
I'm not a competitive dancer, as my studio doesn't work that way, it's focused on providing quality ballet training. We do have a performing company, and although I'm not in it, I've performed in The Nutcracker in a variety of different roles.
I've dabbled a little bit in choreography, and would love to do more some day. Every summer at my dance intensive we have a choreography workshop, and I've worked with other dancers to create pieces, but I've never done anything completely on my own. Someday!

I dance Ballroom and Latin dancing, I've been doing it for 3 1/2 years (approx)
I did a lot of competitions at my old studio but I recently had to move but I'm starting competitions again soon, my dance teacher choreographs our routines to the correct syllabus for our grade but if we want to, we can make our own routines. I plan on becoming a professional dancer and possibly travel internationally for competitions.
I have perviously won some medals and trophies for my competitions and medal nights (exams) but not really any major titles (yet)...

I dance competitively at a studio. I'm given choreography there, but I also like to choreograph dances myself. I do tap, jazz, lyrical, clog, hip hop, modern, acro, and ballet.
When I graduate high school, I want to dance professionally.

I do ballet, contemporary ballet and hip hop. I started dancing before I could even properly walk. I choreograph all styles.

I do ballet and pointe. I take very few jazz classes, but I should probably take more modern and jazz classes, so that I am well-rounded.
